Barnie’s Coffee & Tea Teams Up with Coffee Kids International
As one of the most highly traded commodities on Earth, we often take our morning cup of coffee for granted. Before those coffee beans or grounds are sealed in their bags, coffee farmers all over the world have already put a lot of love, time and skill into making your morning pick-me-up possible.
The coffee industry is going to change drastically in 50 years. It will be vastly different than it is now in just 20 years.
As coffee farmers grow older and step back from the family trade, their children need to pick up where their parents left off, which includes remaining, or becoming, current with modern processing techniques. Creating new systems to efficiently harvest and process coffee is vital to the stability and growth of the industry.
Barnie’s has partnered with Coffee Kids, an organization that provides resources, training and mentorship for the next ‘crop’ of coffee farmers.
Founded in 1988, Coffee Kids was the first nonprofit organization within the budding specialty coffee industry dedicated solely to improving coffee farmers’ quality of life. Young men and women in coffee-rich regions around the world feel deeply connected to the land they tend. These young growers want to continue their coffee farming heritage while also modernizing their family farms. Coffee Kids helps foster the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit needed to protect the future of coffee farming. In the 27 years since their inception, Coffee Kids have partnered with over 200,000 families in over 400 coffee-farming communities.
Barnie’s Coffee & Tea is proud to partner with Coffee Kids International. A portion of proceeds from every bag of CROP-EX coffee purchased goes directly to Coffee Kids, helping further the proud tradition and heritage of the world’s coffee farmers while putting amazing coffee in your morning cup.
